Why Alula Exists

After a breast cancer diagnosis, a trip to Maui showed me the healing power of travel. Now I help others experience that transformation—by funding trips for those navigating cancer treatment and in survivorship.

In June 2024, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After my double mastectomy, reconstruction, and chemo, I had the chance to escape to Hana, Maui with the support of my family.

That trip changed everything.

For the first time in months, I wasn't a patient. I wasn't scheduling appointments or managing side effects. I was simply… present. With my family. In nature. Recharged and full of hope.

That's why Alula exists. When you book travel with me, you're funding that same transformative experience for someone who needs it

Every booking helps fund healing trips for cancer survivors and cancer research through the commission we earn. You'll know exactly how your travel made a difference.

Book with Purpose

  • As a licensed travel advisor, I earn commission from hotels (typically 10-15% of your booking). The majority of that commission funds cancer survivor trips and research. The remainder covers essential operations like web hosting, customer support, and booking systems.

  • You get:

    • Personalized recommendations (I do the research for you)

    • Same or better rates than booking direct—plus often extra perks!

    • Impact—the majority of my commission funds cancer survivors

    Bottom line: Same price, better service, real impact.

  • Through an application process. Priority will go to survivors who are in or recently finished treatment, face financial barriers to travel, and would benefit from rest and reconnection.

    As we grow, I'll share stories (with permission) of the trips we've funded and maintain complete transparency about our impact. Right now, every booking brings us closer to funding our first survivor trip.

  • Thank you for your generosity! Donated vacation rentals help us create even more survivor trips beyond what we fund through booking commissions.
